Theme: The Least of These

He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’” — Matthew 25:45

This year’s District Conference invites us to step deeply into the heart of Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 25:40–45. In this powerful passage, “the least of these” refers to those who are most vulnerable among us — the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, and the imprisoned. Jesus names them as brothers and sisters, and He calls us to see Him in their faces.

Our theme challenges us not only to reflect, but to respond.

Friday Focus: Seeing and Serving Those in Need

Friday’s sessions are designed to open our eyes, stir our compassion, and equip us for meaningful action within our communities.

Poverty Experience — Friday Morning

We begin with an immersive Poverty Experience that helps participants understand the daily realities faced by individuals and families living with limited resources. This guided experience invites us to walk—briefly—in the shoes of those who struggle, cultivating empathy and awareness that shape our ministry.

District Ministries Spotlight — Friday Afternoon

The afternoon will highlight several powerful ministries already at work within our district:

· Troy Church of the Brethren Laundry Ministry — offering dignity and practical support through clean clothing.

· Lower Miami & Charleston Congregations — sharing in ministry with immigrants and refugees, offering welcome and practical assistance.

· Isaiah’s Place (Troy, OH) — presented by Mary Riffell, this faith‑based nonprofit supports foster children and foster families with care, advocacy, and hope.

These sessions will not only inform but inspire, showing how congregations across our district are already living out Jesus’ call to serve “the least of these.”

Grant Writing & Funding Opportunities

A dedicated segment will help congregations and ministries learn how to identify, pursue, and write grants—an invaluable resource for expanding outreach and sustaining impactful work.

A Call to Compassionate Action

This year’s conference is more than a gathering. It is an invitation to see with Christ’s eyes, to respond with Christ’s heart, and to join together in ministries that transform lives.

We hope you will join us as we learn, reflect, and commit ourselves anew to serving “the least of these” in our communities and beyond.
