The Gifts Discernment Commission is responsible for calling persons to serve in various positions throughout our district, including District Board, Moderator, Clerk, Program and Arrangements Committee, and others. 

 The Gifts Discernment Commission shall present a slate of District Officers, Board Members, and others at District Conference. The District Conference shall elect each office by a two-thirds vote.

The Southern Ohio/Kentucky Gifts Discernment Commission wishes to continue building a data base of names for future ministry needs.  If you know of someone whom you feel is gifted and called to serve the Southern Ohio/Kentucky District, please use the form provided to make the nomination.  
 
Southern Ohio/Kentucky District Moderator                                                                                                                      
3 Year Term of Service

Year 1: Moderator-elect

  • Serve in the Moderator’s absence.
  • Serve as member of Gifts Discernment Team.
  • Serve as member of Program and Arrangements Team.
  • Serve as ex-officio member of District Board.
Year 2: Moderator
 
  • Preside at District Conference.
  • In cooperation with District Board, prepare agenda for District Conference.
  • Serve as member of Gifts Discernment Team.
  • Serve as chair of Program and Arrangements Team.
  • Serve as ex-officio member of District Board.

Year 3: Immediate Past-Moderator
  • Serve as member of District Board.
  • Serve as chair of Gifts Discernment Team.

Program and Arrangements Committee                                                                                               

3 Year Term of Service
This team is responsible for planning and implementing the District Conference. It is comprised of the Moderator, the Moderator-elect, and three elected members. They are responsible for selecting the host church site and theme of each conference so that it can be announced one year in advance. They also work in concert with the host church's "coordinator" and pastor to plan logistical concerns associated with the conference such as booth display areas, meeting area for the conference, meals, etc. Current practice includes selecting the speaker and planning the details for the worship service on Friday night of the conference.

3 Year Term of Service (may serve only 2 consecutive 3-year terms)
The District Board helps set the spiritual climate for the District by articulating the vision for the District through coordinating activities and preparing the annual budget for presentation to District Conference. Subject to budget, the Board may employ staff. 
Each Board member is also expected to serve on at least one District Commission.

Standing Committee Members represent our district at Annual conference making recommendations on business items that are brought before the Conference.
